KEITH SHANNON, Founder!

Keith Shannon, founder of PETROPOLITAN, is a native Baton Rougeon. Keith has notable experience in obedience training and, as a college student, worked with one of the most well-known and accomplished dog trainers in our region. He has enjoyed breeding, raising and training registered, Labrador Retrievers for more than seventeen years. Many people know him for his remarkable work with Labs.

Keith has sixteen years of professional experience in the field of Human Services. He earned his Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1992 and then obtained his Master’s from Louisiana State University in 2002.

Interestingly, throughout his career, as a Social Worker and Nursing Home Administrator, Keith found pets a terrific therapy tool for clients and patients of all ages. During his experience in the field of Human Services, he discovered, first hand, how extremely important pets were to people and how they filled a broad range of human emotional needs, most importantly, that of unconditional love!

The unconditional love our pets provide us demands exceptional care and unconditional love from us in return. This is precisely why Keith felt led and called to establish PETROPOLITAN! He heard the pets of metropolitan Baton Rouge barking, yelping and howling for PETROPOLITAN's unique services!

Only now, through PETROPOLITAN, is Keith able to directly integrate and synthesize his diverse knowledge and experience in working with pets and people! PETROPOLITAN has brought it all together for him! In his heart, Keith truly loves pets who love their people and people who love their pets!!

Keith is the proud father of two, highly-energized, young boys, not to mention a highly-energized, red-headed, miniature poodle, Danny-Boy O'Shannon. Danny-Boy comes from a long line of show dogs, but much prefers relaxing at home being loved and spoiled by his adoring family!
